In this project the client initially just commissioned ground floor interiors to design a new look for her bedroom, originally the design brief was rather classic with heavy draped curtains in decadent colours, however with another design proposal we were able to convince the client that a more contemporary approach should be taken to complement the existing contemporary architecture and finishes. With this said, we were still able to create a warm tranquil environment with cool colours and light natural furnishings and accessories. We used natural wood furniture with grass cloth wallpaper and also incorporating custom forest scene wallpaper in the nice behind the bed, design team fabric for the scatters, and natural jute rug.
The client was extremely happy with the outcome and commissioned us to do some other areas in the house in phases, these included the dining room, lounge, upstairs study, and guest room.
For the lounge we took a comfort approach using modern classic furniture which has timeless elegance and ergonomics, artwork and accessories reflect the outdoors. For the dining room we used a solid wood heavily grained kiaat custom size table, and a grey, silver and charcoal striped wallpaper to reflect this grain on vertical element, the chairs are crisp white for contrast, with a yellow geometric scatter on them for a pop of colour.
For the guest bedroom we opted for a contemporary colonial look, using the existing furniture and reupholstering it in a luxurious leopard print fabric. We incorporated a chartreuse palm leaf wallpaper to finish off the look.
